While the roots of Morap can be traced back to the early 2000s with pioneering acts like H-Kayne and Fnaire, the 2020s have marked a seismic shift in the genre’s global footprint. At its core, Morap is a sophisticated fusion of traditional Moroccan instrumentation (such as the bendir, sintir, or ghaita) with the modernity of rap delivery, defined by its multilingual lyricism that seamlessly blends Moroccan Arabic and Amazigh with French, English, or Spanish.

To understand the popularity of this movement, YouTube remains the primary barometer of success in Morocco; while Spotify has grown steadily since its official entry into the Moroccan market in 2018, YouTube continues to serve as the “people’s platform”, where a track’s visual performance and comment section engagement often reflect its true societal reach more accurately than streaming numbers alone. The following list ranks the most-watched Morap songs on YouTube, demonstrating how the genre has moved from the underground (and what was once considered an unacceptable blend) to become the dominant sound of recent generations.

It is also worth noting that behind every one of these tracks stands a producer whose vision and craftsmanship have been the backbone of this movement. As with any genre, the architects of the sound often remain behind the console, and a dedicated article exploring the contributions of Morap’s most important producers, names like DJ Khalid, Ahmed Beats, 777YM, KOKA, Zuher Beats, among others, will follow separately.

10. Sadou by PAUSE

Uploaded in July 2019, “Sadou” by PAUSE has amassed over 9.5 million YouTube views and 1.7 million Spotify streams. The track stands as a well-written composition loaded with philosophical questions and worries, characteristic of the approach Pause Flow has honed since his beginnings in the duo 7alfin around 2013. He has since emerged as one of the leading voices and most authentic representations of Morap, distinguished by his deep connection to his Amazigh roots, often rapping in his native Tamazight, and his refusal to adopt an American-like sound or persona, as many usually do. His music is unapologetically rooted in the Atlas Mountains, and it is this grounded authenticity, paired with his deep and introspective lyricism, that has elevated the genre beyond club vibes and live performance staples, proving that Morap can also be a vehicle for deep thought and social contemplation.

The song’s minimalist presentation, featuring only a still image, has done nothing to diminish its impact, demonstrating PAUSE’s unique ability to attract millions of views through the strength of his writing and the loyalty of one of the most devoted fan bases in Morocco. Tracks like “Sadou”, alongside other essential Morap songs in his catalog such as “Drop”, “Zanda”, “Mchrdoul”, and “Cage”, reflect listeners’ hunger for substance over spectacle, cementing his reputation as a favorite among audiences seeking depth and authenticity in Moroccan hip-hop.

9. Guardia by Lartiste & Maes

Uploaded in October 2024, “Guardia” by Lartiste featuring Maes has accumulated over 11 million YouTube views and 13 million Spotify streams. Produced by Yannis Wade, the track blends gnawa sounds in the production and brings together two major figures of French-speaking rap, both with Moroccan roots representing Moroccan diaspora excellence in the music industry. The song embodies the culture born between the two shores of the Mediterranean, with both artists singing/rapping in both Arabic and French as they continue their mission of reconciling their Moroccan and French influences.

The music video, filmed entirely in Morocco and opening in the Douar el Hajja neighborhood of Rabat, depicts the rappers against backdrops of local streets and communities, creating a visual homage to lblad (homeland) that complements the track’s fusion of French rap with North African rhythms.

8. OU TT by Stormy & Draganov

Uploaded in October 2020, “OU TT” by Stormy featuring Draganov has amassed 13 over million YouTube views and 9 million Spotify streams. Produced by VBGotHeat, the track occupied the top ten spot for most streamed songs in Morocco for several weeks after its release. The production incorporates the unmistakable clack of Gnawa qraqeb, metal castanets central to Gnawa ritual music, which are also featured in the music video, where a Gnawi musician appears dancing.

The song showcases the distinct strengths of both artists: Stormy delivers a first verse marked by his creative and versatile flow, shifting cadences without losing a beat, while Draganov counters with a catchy hook and a melodic second verse. The transitions between them are seamless, and the synergy is praised, resulting in a track that has endured as a fan favorite years after its initial release.

7. L'Étranger by Don Bigg & Reda Taliani

Uploaded  in October 2022, “L’Étranger” by Don Bigg featuring Reda Taliani, as the twelfth track from Bigg’s fourth studio album 4in, has amassed over 18 million YouTube views and 14 million Spotify streams. The song tells the story of two young men from disadvantaged neighborhoods dreaming of a better future, highlighting the dilemmas between migration and staying to fight social hardship. Produced by UNCL, Lbandy, Nouamane Org, and Akram Rach, the track features strong rai influence in the hook courtesy of featured artist Reda Taliani, a major Algerian raï singer.

The music video, directed by Farid Malki and featuring multiple prominent Moroccan actors including Casanegra‘s Fatima “Raouia” Hernadi, depicts youth growing up in marginalized districts of Casablanca. The song occupied the top ten spot for most streamed tracks in Morocco for several weeks after its release, including the number one position for a week, and stands as the most streamed song from the album and one of the most streamed and watched in Bigg’s extensive career.

6. Tirachrach by Profite Za3im

Uploaded in January 2020, “Tirachrach” by Profite Za3im has accumulated over 18 million YouTube views and 1.7 million Spotify streams, making it both the most-watched track of his career and one of the most-viewed rap music videos in Morocco. Produced by Rimo Beats, the track is regarded as instrumental in popularizing the Morap sound within gangsta rap, a subgenre rarely engaged with such instrumentation. The song showcases Za3im’s high-energy delivery and his ability to transition seamlessly between English and Moroccan Arabic. Other Morap songs by Za3im include “Week End” and “Titachtach”.

Za3im’s commitment to the genre continues with an upcoming mixtape titled Morap, named directly after the movement itself and exclusively produced by Rimo and Zuher Beats. In January 2026, he released the first single from the project “On the Spot”, in which he raps primarily in English: “Alright shit, it’s all off the top, the whole city lit when my shit drops, I walk in do my stuff and it just pop, big Morap classics right on the spot”. The project is expected be 16 tracks long and released in 2026.

5. Ouroboros by Pause

Uploaded in January 2020 as the second single from his debut solo EP SOLARIS, “Ouroboros” by PAUSE has amassed over 19 million YouTube views and 6 million Spotify streams, despite featuring only the EP’s cover artwork. The track is built on minimal, atmospheric production by KOKA, creating space for PAUSE’s emotional delivery and dense, metaphorical lyricism. Its title references the ancient symbol of a serpent devouring its own tail, an image associated with cycles and self-reflection, that mirrors the introspective tone of lyrics addressing the anxieties and struggles of the Moroccan working class.

The song has since become a staple on social media whenever users express dissatisfaction with the state of the country, including during the 2025 Gen-Z protests in Morocco. This visibility brought unwanted attention to PAUSE’s work, leading to his arrest and a month-long pretrial detention on charges that his music was ‘insulting public officials’ and ‘Moroccan symbols’. Despite this, or perhaps because of the weight it carries, the song is widely praised as one of the most profound and deeply felt conscious rap songs in the Moroccan canon.

4. Chichi by Draganov

Uploaded in July 2022, “Chichi” by Draganov has amassed over 21 million YouTube views and 13 million Spotify streams. The track’s production, handled entirely by Draganov himself, blends the reggada melodies of his hometown Oujda with vocal chops and drums inspired by Brazilian funk, reflecting the experimental quality that defines much of Draganov’s work, and highlighting his technical skill as both a producer and performer.

For three months following its release, the song remained in the country’s top ten most streamed tracks, holding the number one spot for the first three weeks. The music video has been praised for its compelling storytelling, high production quality, and the performances of its cast, particularly Hassan El Ghanouni (as the father) and Simo Sedraty (as the son).

3. Taf Taf by OldygottheSound, Shaw & Anys

Uploaded in May 2025, “Taf Taf” by OldygottheSound featuring Shaw and Anys has amassed over 21 million YouTube views on its lyrics video and 14 million Spotify streams. The track has remained in the top ten streamed songs in Morocco from July 2025 till the time of writing this (March 2026), and ranked as the seventh most streamed track on Spotify Morocco for the year 2025. The song is lauded for its rapid tempo and energetic delivery, which helped it become a summer hit.

The production is characterized by a 6/8 rhythm, a time signature commonly found in traditional Moroccan music such as chaabi, that provides an atmospheric canvas for the featured rappers to deliver their verses. This sonic aesthetic, increasingly favored by younger Moroccan audiences, has become an element of the Morap genre.

2. Mok Ya Mok by Benny Adam & Khadija El Warzazia

Released in February 2025, “Mok Ya Mok” by Benny Adam featuring Khadija El Warzazia has accumulated 27 million YouTube views and 11 million Spotify streams as of March 2026. Produced by Azzedine Wahbi, the track represents a masterful fusion of modern sounds and roots, blending contemporary hip-hop production with Moroccan chaabi influences. It peaked atop Moroccan streaming charts for three weeks in April and May 2025 and earned a nomination for Best African Collaboration at AFRIMA 2025. The song is, at its core, a reinvention of a classic track by Khadija El Warzazia, vocalist and leader of Bnat el Houariyat, an all-women group dedicated to preserving ancestral Houara and Chaabi songs.

While many rappers breathe new life into older material through sampling, Benny Adam distinguished himself by seeking out El Warzazia directly and recording the track together, a gesture many saluted for its respect and authenticity. Her powerful chorus anchors the song, bringing deep cultural resonance. Lyrically, “Mok Ya Mok” is a raw, dynamic hymn to ambition and struggle, weaving themes of resilience, survival, and homesickness into its verses.

1. Zarzour by Lartiste

Uploaded in June 2023, “Zarzour” by Lartiste stands as the most-watched Morap track on YouTube with over 145 million views and 44 million Spotify streams, as of March 2026. The song blends Moroccan melodic elements with French rap and Afropop, reflecting the cross-Mediterranean identity of its L’Artiste. Upon its release, it claimed the number two spot on YouTube Charts and number eight on Apple Music Charts during its first week, subsequently occupying the top position for multiple weeks and becoming the fifth most streamed song on Spotify Morocco in 2023.

The track obtained a Platinum export certification in France after surpassing 35 million international streams, charted on France’s SNEP Top Singles, and reached number two on the newly launched IFPI North Africa Chart covering Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia, establishing itself as a staple on the Global Shazam Top 200 for months following its release.

Honorable Mentions:

One track that would have undoubtedly ranked among the top three most-watched Morap songs is “Kbi Atay” by Youss45 and Men Grave, had it not been deleted amid a firestorm of controversy. Released in early 2024, the song became a massive success in a matter of months, amassing over 40 million YouTube views and embedding itself in popular culture, with children and adults alike memorizing its lyrics by heart. However, a single line in the song drew the attention of the “Don’t Touch My Kids” organization, which interpreted it as normalizing or calling for sex with minors. The ensuing campaign led to the track’s removal from YouTube and legal action against the two rappers, who were initially sentenced to two years in prison, a punishment many viewed as disproportionately harsh and itself controversial. Their sentences were later reduced to four months each.

Despite the controversy, “Kbi Atay” gave the Morap genre a significant push, proving the immense commercial appetite for this sound. Its viral formula inspired several rappers to follow suit, the most successful of whom has been L’Max, a fellow Fes-based rapper who collaborated with the same producer, Ahmed Beats. Since then, L’Max has released multiple Morap tracks that have collectively garnered millions of views, with songs ranging from two to seven million, an impressive feat for a relatively new artist finding his footing in the wake of a genre-defining moment.

Several other notable tracks deserve honorable mention for their significant contributions to the genre’s growth and popularity. Don Bigg’s “Arahmini” from March 2023 has garnered over 9.3 million views, while PAUSE appears multiple times with “Zanda” from November 2023 at 9.1 million views, “Mchrdoul” featuring Soukaina Fahsi from November 2021 at 8.7 million views, and “Drop” from February 2023 at 5.7 million views. Shaw’s “Dazou Lyam” from February 2024 has accumulated 8.9 million views, and the super collaboration “Achkid Achkid” by RedOne, featuring H-Kayne, Muslim, Dizzy DROS, and Chaimae Abdelaziz from December 2025 has already reached 8.3 million views.

L’Max’s “Shen Ten” from March 2024 stands at 7.1 million views, the Jamshow’s season soundtrack featuring Nezar, Plum, Small Naar, Namber, 6win, and Otat from January 2024 has earned 6.2 million views, H-Kayne’s classic “Issawa Style” from February 2006 continues to hold at 5.7 million views, and Profit Za3im’s “Week End” from February 2021 has accumulated 5.1 million views, collectively demonstrating the depth and diversity of Morap’s thriving scene.
