Ramoon ft. 7ari image 2025

This month, our Producer of the Month spotlight shines on Ramoon. He earns the recognition for producing a full 12-track album for 7ari, released on July 4, 2025. For the past few years, Ramoon has been on a hot streak of hits and bangers. His impressive run includes co-producing the 2023 hit “Lollipop” by Darell (alongside producers Lil Genuiz & Roc Legion), and delivering solo projects like “Echoes Of Dust” in 2024. This full-album production for 7ari solidifies his place as one of the most consistent and streamed Moroccan producers.

Designer of the Month: Aimane

Moroccan Graphic Designer Aimane

This month, Aimane is voted as the best Designer of the Month for the striking cover art of Obito’s EP, “Zetsu,” released on July 17. Aimane’s design is a powerful and unsettling close-up portrait defined by a stark visual duality. The artwork features a face split in two: one half is rendered in dark monochrome, while the other is a vibrant, glitching red, creating a compelling sense of internal conflict. The background, a sea of ominous red eyes, adds a layer of paranoia and a sense of being perpetually watched, amplifying the dark and mysterious tone of the project.

Music Critic of the Month: Simohamed F'Rap

Moroccan Music Critic Simohamed F'rap

This month, our Music Critic of the Month is Simohamed F’rap, one of the most prominent rap reviewers on Instagram. His critical analysis began on July 7 with a review of PAUSE’s interview, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses. On July 23, he released a reel analyzing PAUSE’s comeback diss track, “Azul.” He followed this with a collaborative giveaway on July 30, offering signed t-shirts from rappers in partnership with Rhymat. He wrapped up the month on July 31 with a critique of PAUSE’s latest song with Ilyas El Malki, noting that it lacked the authentic spirit of hip-hop.

Rising Star of the Month: Obito 333

Moroccan Rapper Obito 333

To top off his breakout month, Obito was also part of the massive lineup of over 40 rappers at the EGREGORE Festival on July 26-27, pushing his status as a name to watch.

Top Talk - DJ Sim-H: Most In-Demand Dj of 2025

Dj Sim-H at Jamshow 2025

DJ SIM-H has carved a path as a respected and influential DJ. Born and raised in Casablanca, he began his journey in 2002, living every moment on stage with passion and patience. His unique style, which mixes hip-hop, electronic music, and traditional Moroccan melodies (Morap), has become his signature. Through his work, he’s made his mark by collaborating with major Moroccan artists and contributing to major projects like Dizzy DROS’ album 3azzy 3ando Stylo, Nessyou’s mixtape Rap Khatr, and the successful television program, Jam Show. Let’s delve into DJ SIM-H’s mindsets:

  • DimaTOP: A great DJ can read the room and tell a story through music. What’s your take on the importance of learning how to put on a show rather than just mixing?

Dj Sim-H: A successful DJ knows how to read the audience, shift the mood, and tell a musical story. It’s not just about blending tracks. You have to work on your stage presence and learn to interact with the crowd. That connection is what elevates a performance.

DimaTOP: Hip-hop began with teamwork. How important is it for a DJ to build relationships and network with other artists?

Dj Sim-H: Building a strong network is essential. The more creative people you surround yourself with, the more you increase your value. Hip-hop is rooted in collaboration, and a DJ who wants to go far needs to put in a lot of hard work to build those strong relationships.

DimaTOP: The field of DJing is constantly evolving with new technology. How do you approach the need for constant improvement?

Dj Sim-H: The DJ world moves fast with new software, turntables, and live streams. A DJ who stands still will be left behind. You have to keep learning, experimenting, and developing your skills to stay ahead. It’s a continuous process of growth and adaptation.

DimaTOP: It can be tempting to enjoy the money you earn. What’s your advice on financial management and reinvesting in your craft?

Dj Sim-H: My philosophy is to reinvest in your craft and avoid fleeting pleasures. The money you earn should go back into your equipment, training, and your image. Resist the urge to spend it on temporary fads. When you prioritize quality over fake fame, you’re playing the long game for your art.

Hip Hop Word of the Month: Toplining

Tory Lanez Freestyle Sway in the Morning

Toplining is a key part of how modern rap is made, and it’s all about writing lyrics and vocal melodies over a beat that’s already been finished. Unlike traditional songwriting where the music and lyrics come together at the same time, toplining flips the process. A producer sends over a finished beat, and then the rapper builds their flow, lyrics, and delivery around it. This method puts the spotlight on the rapper’s ability to adapt their cadence and bring the track to life.

You can see this approach clearly in the way artists like Drake and Tory Lanez work. Many of their biggest hits start with a beat from a producer, and they then add their own melodies and introspective bars, essentially toplining over the track.

This same approach is also a key driver in Morocco’s growing rap scene. Rappers often team up with beatmakers, both local and international, who send them beat to write over. Artists like ElGrandeToto and Mons are great examples. They’re known for their ability to drop catchy hooks and compelling verses over a wide variety of beats.

In the end, toplining has become a fundamental part of the creative process. It speeds up the workflow and lets artists focus on what they do best: delivering standout vocal performances. Whether it’s in Canada or Casablanca, this way of working brings artists and producers together to create bangers.

Letter from the Editor

At DimaTOP Magazine, we recognize and celebrate excellence, especially when it's built from the ground up by a community’s relentless passion. This month has been monumental. The recent discovery of Bob Fadoul's "Amarni Nanssa" from 1985, a track unmistakably rap with the standards of the 80s, has redefined our understanding of Moroccan hip-hop's origins, establishing 1985 as its birth year. This historic finding has not only sparked a new conversation about our heritage but has been crowned with a truly epic community-led celebration.

This summer, the Egregore Festival marked the 40th anniversary of Moroccan hip-hop. What makes this event so powerful is that it isn't a government or corporate-sponsored show; it’s a 100% community-organized festival, driven by passionate enthusiasts like DOSEI. This is our victory, a testament to decades of dedication from every corner of the culture. With a lineup of over 40 rappers, it’s set to be a glorious and historic page in our story.

We take this moment to salute every pioneer, every enthusiast, every single soul that gave to this movement. From the rappers, producers, DJs, graffiti artists, B-boys & B-girls, and beatboxers, to the streetwear designers and sellers, you are the heart of this glorious victory. Thank you. It is, always has been, and will always be, about PEACE, LOVE & RESPECT.

Sincerely,

DimaTOP Magazine extends its sincere gratitude to the following individuals for their invaluable contributions to this issue. Their expertise, creativity, and dedication have been instrumental in bringing this publication to life.
