This month, DimaTOP Magazine has made the principled decision not to publish our standard “Best Of the Month” editorial. Instead, we are dedicating our platform to highlight selected protest songs that have emerged as a direct, lyrical response to the September protests. This is the only way we feel we can truly protect and celebrate the unwavering heart of our community.

Long live the music, and long live its truth.

Letter from the Editor

At DimaTOP Magazine, we perpetually celebrate the kinetic energy of the Moroccan rap scene, the complex flows, the lyrical duels, and the sheer volume of musical excellence that drops month after month. However, September was not a month for celebration; it was a month of reckoning.

Our focus, traditionally honed on curating the 'Best of the Month', has been fundamentally eclipsed by the national landscape that shifted dramatically on September 27th with the beginning of the Gen Z-led protests across the country.

As Moroccans deeply invested in the politics and future of our nation, we have a responsibility that supersedes music critique. We witnessed the arrest of fellow artists, notably Raid, and hundreds of peaceful protestors, citizens arrested in violent and humiliating manners simply for holding signs and demanding better education and healthcare.

Even as hopes for de-escalation were dashed by the tragic development of violence and the death of some protestors, and even as we attempted to find a flicker of joy in the historic 2025 FIFA U20 World Championship win by our Atlas Cubs, the gravity of the streets remained.

Hip-hop is not a genre that allows us to look away. It is the raw, unflinching voice of the streets. When hundreds remain unjustly imprisoned for over a month, the very spirit of the art dictates that we cannot simply pivot back to commercial applause.

For this reason, we issue a sincere apology to all the amazing artists for their rich musical output this month, but we cannot honor your excellence as we do monthly. Our collective duty, to our nation and to the foundational principles of hip-hop itself, is clear.

This month, DimaTOP Magazine has made the principled decision not to publish our standard "Best Of the Month" editorial. Instead, we are dedicating our platform to highlight selected protest songs that have emerged as a direct, lyrical response to the September protests. This is the only way we feel we can truly protect and celebrate the unwavering heart of our community.

Long live the music, and long live its truth.

Sincerely,

DimaTOP Magazine extends its sincere gratitude to the following individuals for their invaluable contributions to this issue. Their expertise, creativity, and dedication have been instrumental in bringing this publication to life.
